RESUMEN:

The Senior Process Control Engineer will have the responsibility for engineering and design of industrial process control systems, including overseeing installation, assisting with commissioning, and start-up of new process control components or systems.  The administration and management of capital projects is required as well as providing input in the development and execution of the company wide capital program.  Assisting mill staff in diagnosing and rectifying operational problems with existing process control systems hardware and software may also be required.  Travel and on-site support during project construction, commissioning, start-up, and operational improvement stages to US domestic and International sites should be anticipated. 

FUNCIONES Y RESPONSABILIDADES ESENCIALES:

  1. Leadership, Management, and execution of assigned projects.  This may include managing the schedule, cost, scope, and project objectives.
  2. Effective execution and completion of assigned tasks as a process control member of a team executing a larger project.
  3. Administration of assigned projects including the preparation of capital project requests, project status reporting, participating in and or conducting project meetings, coordination of construction activities, and project close-out reporting.
  4. Responsible for all stages of capital project engineering and design activity to include the development of alternative solutions to meet project objectives for presentation to management.
  5. Oversee construction work performed by mill maintenance and/or outside contractors during installation, commissioning, and start-up of assigned projects.

  3. Working knowledge of various DCS control systems including experience with Allen Bradley PLC’s, Intellution/Wonderware HMI, and ABB QCS Systems.

Summary of Role Responsibilities

This position will be responsible to lead planned projects/improvements and identify opportunities for continual process improvements for West Groton Operations.  The incumbent will develop plans and implement solutions for these improvements using sound engineering principles and Six Sigma and Lean methodology.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Study and optimize all unit operations, stock preparation, resin production, drying, saturating, corrugating, winding, slitting, etc.
  • Participate and assists in design of process related capital projects.
  • Actively involved in Lean/Six Sigma projects as a project leader, project facilitator, or SME
  • Aid in development of Control Plans and Standard Work to deliver improved quality and lower cost on all key products and processes.
  • Resolve customer complaints related to process issues as appropriate.
  • Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
  • Work with Technology group on product design to ensure safe and efficient production of new products.
  • Consult with appropriate departments to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Part of Safety team and analysis of any safety related issues to support process improvements and accident investigations
  • Scope of work includes improving product quality, reducing process variation, minimizing waste, reducing cost, improving asset reliability, increasing throughput, improving employee safety, employee education and training.

Necessary Skills & Experience:

  • BS or MS degree in Paper Science, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum two to three years related experience and/or training in a paper manufacturing environment.
  • Successful completion of projects that have resulted in cost savings, safety improvement or quality improvements. 

Specific Knowledge, Skills & Certifications:

  • Six Sigma Green Belt /Black Belt, or equivalent skill and knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills; including MS Office Suite, Oracle, and Minitab.
  • Knowledge of Quality Systems (ISO-9001)
  • Good problem-solving and organizational skills; able to handle multiple projects with the flexibility to change when necessary.
  • Controls Experience a plus.

  6. Assist the Manager, Corporate Accounting with monthly reporting, including inventory reporting, trial detail reporting and various other reports for management.
  7. Assist with intercompany invoicing and reconciliation process.
  8. Assist senior accountant when applicable.

RESUMEN:

We are seeking a Technician to provide assistance to the Technology organization in the testing, analysis, and reporting of new material development in conjunction with product development efforts undertaken at the laboratory, pilot plant facilities, and paper machines.

 

Functions and Responsibilities:

·       Execute laboratory tests.

o   Prepare fibrous/chemical mixtures and produce hand sheets of experimental prototypes.

o   Perform physical and chemical testing on raw materials, and new product prototypes according to specified test procedures.

o   Record and summarize test data and observations from product and raw material testing.

o   Review and modify test methods to ensure accurate and useful data.

o   Assist in the construction of small test devices for new applications.

o   Format computer spreadsheets and provide other computerized documentation of lab experiments and results.

o   Maintain laboratory notebook.

o   Effectively communicate results to Scientists and others describing the results obtained as well as other observations using data tables, graphs, and small reports

·       Participate in product trials.

o   Monitor checkpoints and collect samples and data.

o   Assist in execution of pilot paper machine trials for product development.

o   Train on specialized equipment; operate and maintain this equipment.

o   Formulate standardized reports.

·       Interface internally.

o   Influence other technicians and scientists at more than current site location.

·       Carries out functions that must comply with ITAR standards, therefore must be U.S. citizen or holder of Green card (Location specific). 

 

EDUCACIÓN Y EXPERIENCIA:

·       Associates degree or equivalent proficiency in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

·       2+ years’ experience in a laboratory environment.

·       Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

·       Demonstrated proficiency in math and science, with mechanical or chemical aptitude.

·       Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

·       Conscientious, detail-oriented and accurate.
